Peter Krause’s ‘Line of Fire’ Is a Promising and Engaging NBC Procedural Drama: TV Review
For decades, law-enforcement procedurals have been staples on television, and when they are done well, these series build loyal fanbases that stick with them for years. NBC’s newest drama, “Line of Fire” is from “Quantico” creator Joshua Safran and loosely based on executive prod
The addition of "Line of Fire" to NBC's lineup is a significant move, especially given the network's history with successful procedurals like "Law & Order" and "Chicago" franchises. The fact that it's created by Joshua Safran, known for his work on "Quantico," already generates a considerable amount of interest and expectation. This new series, with Peter Krause at the helm, seems to be positioning itself as a fresh take on the genre, which is both promising and necessary for standing out in today's crowded television landscape.
The interest in "Line of Fire" also speaks to the ongoing popularity of law-enforcement procedurals, a genre that continues to captivate audiences with its blend of action, drama, and often, social commentary. These shows not only entertain but also provide a lens through which viewers can examine real-world issues, making them both engaging and thought-provoking. Given that "Line of Fire" is loosely based on real events or figures, as hinted at by its connection to an executive producer's personal story, it might offer a unique perspective or insight, potentially setting it apart from more generic entries in the genre.
For Venice, a culture and style-focused audience, what's worth watching next is how "Line of Fire" integrates its procedural elements with character development and possibly, deeper thematic explorations. Will it manage to balance the demands of the genre with innovative storytelling or perspectives? Additionally, how will Peter Krause's performance be received, and what chemistry will he have with his co-stars? As the series progresses, observing its ability to evolve, address contemporary issues, and resonate with viewers will be crucial in determining its long-term impact and success.
